Kanye Clary scored 22 points, and Jameel Brown added 20 to lead Penn State to a 79-45 win over Delaware State on Monday in University Park, Pa.
It was the first game for Penn State under new head coach Mike Rhoades and nine new players that came into the program after it made the NCAA Tournament last year.
Clary went 7-for-11 from the field and 7-for-9 from the free-throw line.
Brown came off the bench and was red-hot from the perimeter, going 6-for-8 from 3-point range.
Zach Hicks scored 12 points, and Qudus Wahab pulled down 13 rebounds for Penn State, which shot 49.1% from the field (27 of 55) but had to overcome 21 turnovers and a 13-of-21 performance from the free-throw line.
Corey Perkins and Martaz Robinson scored nine points apiece to lead Delaware State, which went 1-for-16 from 3-point range and turned the ball over 23 times.
The Nittany Lions wound up with a 41-39 rebounding advantage.
Leading 39-18 at halftime, Penn State went on an 8-2 run to take a 49-22 lead with 16:43 remaining in the game.
The Nittany Lions kept expanding their lead from there, going on a 9-2 run later in the half to take a 67-36 lead with 8:18 left.
Penn State went up 72-38 with 5:11 remaining before each team emptied their benches to get reserves into the game.
Penn State took control of the game early, going on a 9-0 run to take a 14-4 lead with 10:57 remaining in the first half.
The Nittany Lions then went on a 10-0 run to take a 26-6 lead with 7:05 remaining until halftime.
Penn State led by as many as 23 points in a turnover-filled first half. Delaware State committed 17 turnovers in the first half, while Penn State coughed the ball up 14 times.
