Jamarius Burton and Blake Hinson each scored 19 points to lead visiting Pittsburgh to an 83-75 victory over Florida State on Saturday afternoon in Tallahassee, Fla.
The Panthers (18-7, 11-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) won their fifth game in a row and retained at least a share of the lead in the conference.
The Seminoles (8-18, 6-9) lost for the fifth time in their past six games and dropped their fifth in a row at home. Jalen Warley finished with a career-high 23 points on 9 for 11 shooting in a losing effort.
Burton made 7 of 15 shots from the field and also finished with six assists and five rebounds.
Burton and Hinson made big plays down the stretch to keep the Seminoles from rallying in the second half.
Hinson's 3-pointer with 2:33 left extended Pitt's lead to 74-65 and effectively put the game away.
Federiko Federiko also made an impact by recording a game-high 13 rebounds, eight points and three blocks.
After staying within two to four points of Pitt for the final 4 1/2 minutes of the first half and opening moments of the second half, Florida State briefly took a 50-49 lead with 13:12 left.
But Pitt quickly had an answer on back-to-back jumpers by Burton, which started a 6-0 run and put the Panthers ahead for good.
Nike Sibande had another clutch performance off the bench for the Panthers.
Sibande scored 10 of his 12 points in a stretch of less than three minutes late in the second half to help Pitt close out. Greg Elliott also scored 13 points for the Panthers.
Caleb Mills scored 16 points and had six rebounds and three assists for Florida State, and Cam Corhen chipped in 13 points and five boards off the bench.
