Kenny Boynton scored 10 of his 16 points in the first seven minutes, and No. 12 Florida used an opening 24-4 spurt to blow out Mississippi Valley State 82-54 in Gainesville, Fla.
The Gators (9-2) were never challenged in winning their fourth consecutive game. Florida scored 15 of the game’s first 19 points, seven coming from Boynton. His 3-pointer with 13:37 to go in the first half made it 24-4 Gators.
Erving Walker led the Gators with 19 points. Bradley Beal scored 13. Walker, Beal and Boynton hit three 3-pointers each.
Earlier Monday, Boynton was named SEC player of the week after he scored 22 points in the Gators’ victory over then No. 22 Texas A&M on Saturday.
Florida played Monday without guard Mike Rosario (strained back) and forward Cody Larson (strep throat).
Cor-J Cox scored 16 points to lead the Delta Devils (1-9), who have lost five in a row.
The Gators host in-state rival Florida State on Thursday. Mississippi Valley State travels Friday to No. 14 Wisconsin.
