Colin Rea combined with two relievers to scatter seven hits for the visiting Milwaukee Brewers, who completed a season-opening three-game sweep of the New York Mets with a 4-1 win Sunday afternoon.

The Brewers are 3-0 for the first time since 2018. The Mets opened 0-3 for the first time since 2014.

Rea (1-0) allowed one run on five hits and two walks while striking out two over five innings for the Brewers, whose starters allowed just four runs over 15 innings this weekend. The Mets had two hits in seven at-bats with runners on against Rea, who wriggled out of a bases-loaded, two-out jam in the fourth by getting Omar Narvaez to fly out to the warning track in right.

Bryan Hudson struck out four over three innings of two-hit ball before Joel Payamps struck out one in a perfect ninth for his first save.

Willy Adames had two hits, including the first-inning RBI single that gave the Brewers a lead they'd never relinquish. Milwaukee didn't trail in the final 24 innings of the series.

William Contreras had two hits and capped the scoring with a sixth-inning RBI double. Jackson Chourio (second-inning double) and Oliver Dunn (fifth-inning single) also had run-scoring hits. Chourio, a 20-year-old who made his big-league debut Friday, finished the series 5-for-12.

Brice Turang had two hits, two runs and a stolen base while Christian Yelich swiped two bases.

Tyrone Taylor, who spent the first five seasons of his career with the Brewers, had an RBI single in the second. Pete Alonso and Francisco Alvarez had two hits apiece.

Tylor Megill (0-1) took the loss after allowing two runs (one earned) over four innings while walking three and striking out four. Mets starters gave up 10 runs (nine earned) over 13 2/3 innings this weekend.

Yohan Ramirez gave up two runs over three innings in relief of Megill one day after he was ejected for throwing behind Brewers slugger Rhys Hoskins. Ramirez was suspended three games Sunday morning but is appealing the punishment. Rookie New York manager Carlos Mendoza served a one-game suspension Sunday for the incident.
