Odubel Herrera grounded a two-out single to right in the top of the 10th inning, helping the Philadelphia Phillies avoid a three-game sweep with a 4-3 win over the host Miami Marlins on Sunday afternoon.

On Herrera's hit, Freddy Galvis, the placed runner, scored from second base when right fielder Jesus Sanchez bobbled the ball.

Bryce Harper and Galvis homered for the Phillies (70-66), who had won six straight games entering this series.

Ian Kennedy (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings for his first win since 2019. Facing a runner on third with one out in the 10th, he struck out Sandy Leon and then Deven Marrero to end the game.

Reliever Dylan Floro (5-6) took the loss.

Still, Miami (57-80) took two of three in this set, and the Marlins have won three of their past four series. The Marlins are also 8-8 against the Phillies this year.

In a scary second-inning incident, Marlins rookie left fielder Bryan De La Cruz was hit by a 98-mph fastball from Sam Coonrod. The ball hit De La Cruz on his left shoulder and then struck his head, under the helmet.

However, De La Cruz not only stayed in the game -- he also homered in the fourth inning and finished with two RBIs.

Neither starting pitcher figured in the decision. Miami's Elieser Hernandez allowed three hits, one walk and three runs in five innings. He struck out six.

Philadelphia went with a "bullpen game" as Coonrod made his first career start following 82 relief appearances. He allowed one run in 1 1/3 innings.

Miami opened the scoring in the second inning. Sanchez drew a four-pitch walk, advanced on the De La Cruz hit-by-pitch and took third on Alex Jackson's broken-bat single before scoring on Isan Diaz's groundout.

Philadelphia took a 3-1 lead in the fourth as Harper hit a solo homer and Galvis followed with a two-run blast, both to right field. Harper, who had just two singles and no extra-base hits in his previous 14 at-bats, lofted his 27th homer of the year. Galvis' homer, his 11th, was a line-drive blast.

But the Marlins tied the score 3-3 thanks to a pair of De La Cruz RBIs: his solo homer in the bottom of the fourth and a run-scoring groundout in the sixth.
