Trea Turner doubled, tripled and homered, and Anibal Sanchez pitched six strong innings to boost the visiting Washington Nationals to a 12-1 victory against the Chicago White Sox on Monday night.

Kurt Suzuki smacked a ninth-inning grand slam as part of a six-run rally that punctuated the Washington rout. Suzuki knocked in five runs, Adam Eaton had three hits, and Juan Soto, Howie Kendrick and Victor Robles added two hits apiece.

Washington's 16-hit attack proved to be plenty of support for Sanchez (2-6), who limited Chicago to one run on four hits and one walk with one strikeout.

Right-hander Odrisamer Despaigne (0-1) contributed a quality start in his White Sox debut but still took the loss. He allowed three runs and seven hits in six innings with two walks and two strikeouts.

The White Sox selected Despaigne's contract from Triple-A Charlotte before the game to take the rotation spot of Dylan Covey, who on Sunday was placed on the 10-day injured list due to inflammation in his right (pitching) shoulder. Despaigne has now pitched for five major league teams.

While Washington had a baserunner in each of its six times at bat against Despaigne, the veteran kept Chicago in the game by limiting the Nationals to 1-for-5 success with runners in scoring position.

The Nationals opened the scoring with Suzuki's sacrifice fly in the second inning and extended their lead on Eaton's run-scoring single in the third.

Turner made it 3-0 with a home run to left field leading off the fifth.

Making his second start against the White Sox in a week, Sanchez held Chicago to one hit in his first five innings. Any momentum from James McCann's infield single with two outs in the fourth was promptly erased, however, as Sanchez picked McCann off first base one batter later.

The White Sox notched their lone run on Leury Garcia's two-out solo home run against Sanchez in the sixth. Yoan Moncada followed with a single, but Chicago was unable to extend its rally. Sanchez was taken out after McCann led off the bottom of the seventh with a single.

Moncada left the game in the seventh inning due to upper back tightness. He is listed as day-to-day.

The Nationals have won seven of their past nine games. The White Sox have lost four of the past six.
