Andrew Cashner pitched six scoreless innings, Jonathan Villar delivered an RBI triple and the visiting Baltimore Orioles defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 2-1 on Tuesday night.
The Orioles have won the first two games of the three-game series.
Cashner (1-1) allowed four hits and three walks while striking out three.
Miguel Castro earned his first save of the season despite allowing the second homer of the season by Toronto's Rowdy Tellez with one out in the bottom of the ninth.
Toronto starter Marcus Stroman (0-1) allowed two runs in 5 2/3 innings, yielding nine hits and one walk while striking out five.
Stroman pitched around two singles in the third and a double and a single in the fourth.
The Blue Jays' first threat came in the fourth when they put runners at the corners with a walk and a single, but Cashner ended the inning by inducing a double-play grounder from Danny Jansen.
The Orioles took the lead in the sixth.
Dwight Smith Jr., who was obtained from the Blue Jays during spring training for an international signing bonus slot, led off with a single.
He scored on a triple down the right-field line by Villar. Trey Mancini followed with an RBI single to left.
Stroman got a double-play grounder from Rio Ruiz, but was replaced by Tim Mayza after walking Joey Rickard.
Mayza, after allowing Rickard to reach second on an errant pickoff attempt, retired Chris Davis on a fly to center.
The Blue Jays loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth on two infield singles and a walk, but Cashner ended the inning on a fly to left by Tellez.
After Mayza pitched a perfect seventh, he was replaced by Daniel Hudson, who set the side down in order in the eighth.
Paul Fry replaced Cashner and pitched around a single in the bottom of the seventh and a walk in the eighth.
Toronto's Javy Guerra pitched around a double and an intentional walk in the top of the ninth.
