Rangers 2, Twins 1: Leonys Martin delivered a bases-loaded single with two outs in the ninth inning to lift host Texas to its sixth walk-off win of the year.
Alex Rios started the winning rally with a one-out double to left field off Caleb Thielbar (2-2). The Rangers eventually loaded the bases before Martin greeted Brian Duensing by ripping a single up the middle to give Texas its eighth win in 11 games.
Joe Nathan (5-2) struck out two in a scoreless ninth and Adrian Beltre had a sacrifice fly for the first-place Rangers, who maintained their two-game lead over Oakland in the American League West.
Brian Dozier homered to lead off the game for the Twins, who have scored 10 runs while going 1-6 in their last seven games. Beltre's sacrifice fly also came in the first as Texas' Matt Garza hooked up with Mike Pelfrey in a stirring pitchers' duel.
Garza surrendered the leadoff blast by Dozier but allowed just two more hits over the rest of his seven-inning stint, striking out nine and walking three. Pelfrey fanned seven and gave up a run and six hits over his seven frames, retiring 13 straight at one point.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Twins traded veteran 1B Justin Morneau, the 2006 American League MVP, to Pittsburgh on Saturday for OF Alex Presley and a player to be named or cash. Presley, who was batting .264 with two homers and four RBIs in 79 at-bats for the Pirates, will join the Twins on Sunday. ... Rangers SS Elvis Andrus exited the game in the bottom of the first inning due to tightness in his lower back and was listed as day-to-day. ... Dozier's homer gave him 15 for the season, setting a record for the most by a Minnesota second baseman.
