Myles Rice made a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 1:54 left in overtime, his first field goal since the first half, as Washington State beat rival Washington 90-87 in Pac-12 Conference action on Saturday night in Seattle.
Isaac Jones scored a team-high 20 points on 10-of-15 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds for Washington State. Jones' driving dunk off an assist from Rice with four seconds left in regulation forced the extra session.
Jaylen Wells added 19 points for the Cougars (16-6, 7-4 Pac-12), who won their third game in a row. Rice scored 18 points to go along with five assists and five rebounds, Andrej Jakimovski tallied 13 points and Oscar Cluff came off the bench to contribute 12 points and eight boards.
Keion Brooks Jr. scored a career-high 35 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Huskies (12-10, 4-7), but he missed a pair of 3-point tries in the closing seconds of overtime. Moses Wood scored 18 points, making 5 of 6 shots from long range, and Sahvir Wheeler had 16 points and five assists.
Wheeler's driving layup with 22 seconds remaining in regulation gave the Huskies an 82-81 lead. After a Washington State turnover, Wood was fouled, but he converted just 1 of 2 free throws, setting up Jones' game-tying bucket.
The teams seemingly traded the lead each time down the court early in the second half. Cluff scored on four straight possessions for the Cougars and, after a Washington miss, Jakimovski made a 3-pointer from the left corner to give Washington State a 63-59 lead with 12:21 remaining.
Brooks broke a 71-all tie with a floater in the lane with 4:44 left, then Wood made a 3-pointer on the Huskies' next trip down the floor to make it 76-71.
The Cougars took a 44-40 lead into the break after a back-and-forth first half.
Washington State made its first seven field-goal attempts, four of those by Rice, to take a 15-8 advantage.
The Huskies responded with a 10-2 run, taking their first lead on a 3-pointer by Wood.
Washington continued its push, taking an 11-point lead, 37-26, on a jumper by Brooks with 6:46 remaining.
