North Carolina State 78, Wake Forest 65: Ralston Turner scored 17 of his 21 points in the second half as the host Wolfpack exploded for an 11-0 run coming out of intermission to defeat the Demon Deacons in the ACC season opener.

Trevor Lacey recorded 15 points and six assists for North Carolina State (7-1), which shot 70.8 percent in the second half and survived 15 turnovers. Anthony Barber added 14 points and four assists, Lennard Freeman grabbed 11 rebounds and BeeJay Anya blocked five shots for the Wolfpack.

Codi Miller-McIntyre scored a season-high 22 points for Wake Forest (4-5), which lost its third straight game. Devin Thomas, who entered the contest averaging 10.8 points and 10 rebounds, settled for 10 and five before fouling out of this one and was 2-for-6 on free throws as the Demon Deacons were 16-for-30 from the line.

N.C. State committed eight of its nine first-half turnovers in the first 9:34 while the teams needed almost seven minutes to combine for 10 points. Abdul-Malik Abu's jumper gave the Wolfpack the lead for good 17-16 and N.C. State settled for a 31-28 lead at the break despite Miller-McIntyre's nine points and six rebounds.

Turner recorded seven points and a steal while Anya blocked three shots during the decisive run, which took a little more than four minutes to complete. Wake Forest scored six straight points to make it 60-53 on Miller-McIntyre's driving bucket with 4:41 to go before the Wolfpack responded when Freeman threw down a two-handed dunk after a nifty pass from Turner 24 seconds later and completed the three-point play, and the Demon Deacons did not get any closer.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Anya recorded his third game with five or more blocks this season before fouling out with 3:25 remaining. ... Lacy committed four fouls after totalling nine in his first seven games and was 6-of-10 from the field to raise his field goal percentage to 51.1. ... N.C. State leads the series 139-101 in the second-most played matchup in the ACC, trailing only Wake Forest-Duke (241 meetings).
