Clemson 63, Georgia Tech 60: K.J. McDaniels scored 15 points as the host Tigers held off the visiting Yellow Jackets in the final minute, winning for the fourth time in six games.
Clemson (12-8, 4-4 ACC) led by 11 points early in the second half, but saw Georgia Tech (11-8, 1-6) pull within 61-59 on Daniel Miller’s dunk with 25 seconds left. Mfon Udofia missed one of his two free throws eight seconds later, leaving the Yellow Jackets down a point.
McDaniels sank two free throws with 16.4 seconds left to push Clemson’s lead to 63-60. Tech had one last chance, but Brandon Reed’s 3-pointer from the left wing hit off the front rim at the buzzer.
Miller led the Yellow Jackets with 16 points. Georgia Tech committed 17 turnovers and has totaled 72 in its past four games.
Georgia Tech led by eight points midway through the first half. The Tigers came back, scoring the final 10 points of the half to take a 36-30 lead at intermission. Clemson extended the lead to 43-32 in the early moments of the second half before the Yellow Jackets rallied.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Neither team shot well from the free throw line. Georgia Tech finished 10-for-17 while Clemson went 6-for-12. … Clemson finished with 12 steals, its highest total in league play. … The Tigers defeated Georgia Tech for the sixth consecutive time and 12th time in the past 15 meetings.
