Jordan Hamilton scored a game-high 20 points while frontcourt mates Tristan Thompson and Gary Johnson each posted double-doubles as No. 5 Texas got back on the winning track with an easy 76-53 win over Iowa State Tuesday night in Austin, Texas.
The loss for the last-place Cyclones was their 10th straight.
The Longhorns (24-4, 12-1 Big 12), coming off a 70-67 loss at Nebraska Saturday, maintained their hold on first place in the Big 12 as Hamilton scored at least 12 points for the 18th consecutive game and also grabbed eight rebounds.
Texas got dominating performances from freshman Thompson (17 points and 14 rebounds), and senior Johnson (14 and 12).
Texas led 35-26 at halftime, then hit Iowa State (14-14, 1-12) with a 19-7 run in the first 4:56 of the second half to seal the game.
Texas, which came into the game leading the Big 12 in rebound margin, field-goal percentage defense and scoring defense, manhandled Iowa State on the boards, 45-33, and held the Cyclones to just 33-percent shooting.
Diante Garrett led Iowa State with 16 points and Scott Christopherson added 12.
