Eduardo Escobar homered among his three hits, Pavin Smith had two hits, and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Colorado Rockies 6-4 in Phoenix on Wednesday night to produce a rare winning streak.
The Diamondbacks have won back-to-back games for the first time since May 10-11 against the Miami Marlins. Arizona had gone 6-44 since then prior to defeating Colorado on Tuesday.
Matt Peacock (3-6) pitched three innings of one-run relief to get the win, and Joakim Soria got the last three outs for his second save.
Elias Diaz homered and singled and Charlie Blackmon and Ryan McMahon three hits each for Colorado, which has lost 10 of its past 11 road games.
Christian Walker led off the second with a single, and after a forceout by Asdrubal Cabrera, the Diamondbacks strung together three hits to take the lead.
Smith singled to left to put runners on first and second. Nick Ahmed followed with a hit to center to drive in Cabrera, and Smith scored on another single by Daulton Varsho, which allowed Ahmed to move to third.
Right-hander Humberto Castellanos, who made his first career start, hit a sacrifice fly to center in his first major league plate appearance to put Arizona ahead 3-0.
Rockies starter Antonio Senzatela (2-8) settled down after that. He wound up allowing three runs on seven hits and one walk with five strikeouts in six innings.
Castellanos, who had not pitched more than three innings in an outing this season, gave up just four hits in four scoreless innings.
Colorado wasn't able to mount a strong rally until it broke through in the seventh on Diaz's seventh home run of the season.
The Diamondbacks came back in the bottom of the seventh. Stuart Fairchild greeted reliever Lucas Gilbreath with a single, and Josh Rojas walked. Tyler Kinley replaced Gilbreath after David Peralta popped out, and Escobar homered to right-center to make it 6-1.
It was Escobar's 19th of the season.
The Rockies answered in the eighth. Blackmon singled and Ahmed's throwing error on Brendan Rodgers' grounder put runners on second and third. Blackmon then scored when Varsho, Arizona's catcher, threw wildly to third on a pickoff attempt.
McMahon drove in Rodgers with a ground-rule double and then scored on a single by C.J. Cron.
