Warriors 89, 76ers 84: Stephen Curry collected 20 points, six assists, five rebounds and three steals as visiting Golden State slipped past Philadelphia.
Leandro Barbosa added 16 points and Andre Iguodala had 13 points and four steals off the bench as the Warriors improved to 2-1 on their four-game road trip. Klay Thompson scored 13 points for Golden State, which overcame a 7-of-29 effort from 3-point range.
Robert Covington had 21 points and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute scored 13 with a team-high nine rebounds to lead the 76ers, who had a four-game home winning streak come to an end. Rookie Tim Frazier handed out seven assists in his third career game but also committed seven of Philadelphia’s 27 turnovers.
Barbosa and Marreese Speights scored six points apiece in a 14-2 run that opened the fourth quarter and left the Warriors in front 81-63. Golden State went nearly five minutes without scoring as the 76ers crept within 81-75, but Iguodala stopped the bleeding before Curry’s layup restored a 10-point advantage with 2:29 to play and provided enough cushion to close it out at the line.
Philadelphia held an eight-point lead early in the second quarter but the Warriors came back to take a 46-44 lead into the break. Curry’s 3-pointer highlighted a 9-0 run that gave Golden State a 55-46 lead with 7:37 left in the third before the 76ers cut it back to 67-61 heading to the final period.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Curry has hit at least one 3-pointer in 60 straight road games – the third-longest streak in NBA history. … The 76ers turned the ball over 55 times in two losses to the Warriors this season. … Golden State F Draymond Green left in the fourth quarter with a sprained ankle and did not return.
