Spurs 120, Pistons 110: Marco Belinelli scored 20 points off the bench and hit all four of his 3-point attempts as host San Antonio upended Detroit.
Manu Ginobili contributed 16 points and nine assists and Kawhi Leonard added 15 points as the Spurs prevailed while playing at home for the first time since Feb. 1. Tim Duncan had 13 points and nine rebounds, Tiago Splitter also scored 13 points and Boris Diaw added 12 as eight players scored in double digits for San Antonio, which was without injured All-Star point guard Tony Parker for the fifth straight game.
Josh Smith scored 20 of his 24 points in the first half for Detroit, which has lost six of seven games. Will Bynum added 18 points and nine assists, Rodney Stuckey scored 17 points and Andre Drummond had 16 points and 17 rebounds.
The Pistons were within seven after a basket by Bynum with 5:46 to play before Ginobili scored five points and Belinelli drained a 3-pointer during a 10-4 burst that pushed the lead to 114-101 with 3:09 to go. Leonard’s dunk made it a 15-point margin with 1:59 left as the Spurs finished off an effort in which they matched a season high with 34 assists.
Detroit had a six-point lead late in the first half before Duncan scored the final six points of a 10-0 surge to give San Antonio a 57-53 lead at the break. The Pistons tied the game at 71 just past the midway point of the third quarter and the Spurs responded with a 17-6 run and settled for a 90-81 edge entering the final stanza.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Patty Mills with 11 points and Cory Joseph with 10 also reached double digits for the Spurs, who shot 53.7 percent from the field and were 23-of-25 from the free-throw line. … Detroit G Brandon Jennings was scoreless in 13 minutes before leaving with a toe injury. … Leonard missed the previous 14 games with a broken finger.
