76ERS 82, CELTICS 81: Evan Turner scored the go-ahead hoop with 40.4 seconds remaining and visiting Philadelphia tied the best-of-7 second-round series at 1-1.
Jrue Holiday scored 18 points and Andre Iguodala added 13 for the 76ers, who won a playoff game in Boston for the first time since Game 7 of the 1982 Eastern Conference finals.
Ray Allen scored 17 points and Kevin Garnett had 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Celtics.
Game 3 is Wednesday in Philadelphia.
Turner’s driving shot gave the 76ers a 76-75 lead and he added two free throws with 12 seconds left to extend the advantage. Boston’s chance for a tying 3-point shot ended when Garnett was called for an offensive foul. Lou Williams and Jodie Meeks each hit two free throws before Garnett hit a meaningless 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Philadelphia took an eight-point lead into the final quarter after scoring 14 unanswered points in the third.
Boston led 47-43 after Allen’s layup with 4:43 left in the third before Elton Brand hit back-to-back shots to tie the score. Williams’ tip-in put the 76ers ahead and lead reached 10 in the final minute before Paul Pierce ended the Boston drought with two free throws with 2.4 seconds left.
The Celtics fought back and tied the score at 65 with 4:33 left in the contest following back-to-back baskets by Garnett.
Rajon Rondo had 13 assists and Brandon Bass scored 12 points for Boston. Pierce tallied just seven points on 2-of-9 shooting.
Boston scored the first nine points of the game but the 76ers recovered to take a 29-27 advantage on a basket by Spencer Hawes four minutes into the second quarter. Pierce hit a 3-pointer with 3.1 seconds left to give the Celtics a 38-36 halftime lead.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Celtics guard Avery Bradley reinjured his left shoulder in the first half but returned in the fourth quarter. … Turner scored six of his 10 points in the final three minutes. … Boston scored 11 points in third quarter, just one above the franchise low for a playoff game. … Williams is just 7-of-24 from the field over the first two games.
