GRIZZLIES 85, BOBCATS 80: Mike Conley had 20 points and seven assists and visiting Memphis rallied from a 10-point, third-quarter deficit to hand Charlotte its 19th consecutive loss.
Zach Randolph added 14 points for the Grizzlies, who won their third straight.
Gerald Henderson matched his career-high with 32 points for the Bobcats, who fell to 7-55 and need to win at least one of their final four games to avoid finishing with the worst winning percentage in NBA history.
Charlotte appeared to have a solid chance when it took a 61-51 lead after Derrick Brown’s layup with 1:22 left in the third.
Memphis trailed by eight entering the final quarter but outscored the Bobcats 22-6 over the first seven-plus minutes. Dante Cunningham had back-to-back dunks as part of a 10-0 surge that gave Memphis a 79-71 advantage with under five minutes to play.
The Bobcats moved within 83-80 on Henderson’s 3-pointer with 20 seconds left before Conley put the game out of reach with two free throws with 10.9 seconds remaining.
Brown, Byron Mullens and Kemba Walker all scored 11 points for Charlotte.
Memphis scored the first four points of the game before Charlotte rattled off 17 consecutive. The Grizzlies battled back to trail just 21-17 entering the second quarter. The Bobcats led 39-37 at halftime.
Walker had nine points in a third quarter that ended with Charlotte ahead 65-57.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Charlotte’s winning percentage sits at .113 – the 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers (.110) hold the dubious record … Grizzlies forward Rudy Gay had just nine points on 4-of-14 shooting after scoring 24 or more points in six of the previous eight games … Charlotte point guard D.J. Augustin (knee) missed his third straight game … Memphis had 12 steals, including three apiece by Conley, Cunningham and Gay.
