Matt Bonner led another strong effort from the San Antonio Spurs bench with 15 points in a 83-73 victory over the host Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.

Tim Duncan scored 14 points and rookie Kawhi Leonard collected 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Spurs, who improved to 3-8 on the road.

After watching the reserve corps score the final 51 points to overcome an 18-point deficit and force overtime in a 101-100 loss at Dallas on Sunday, San Antonio continued to show plenty of faith in its bench. Danny Green scored 11 points in 31 minutes to join Bonner in double figures.

More impressive was the Spurs’ focus on defense Monday. San Antonio entered having allowed an average of 102.3 points in its first 10 road games but had little trouble forcing a slower pace on the slumping Grizzlies.

The Spurs ended up limiting Memphis to 37 percent shooting while forcing 17 turnovers.

Grizzlies leading scorer Rudy Gay was held to one point on 0-of-7 shooting.

O.J. Mayo ended up scoring 17 points off the bench to lead Memphis, which has dropped four straight.
