Amar’e Stoudemire scored 30 points and Wilson Chandler had 27 as the New York Knicks ruined the much anticipated visit by Carmelo Anthony to Madison Square Garden with a 129-125 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Sunday.
Anthony, the subject of persistent trade rumors involving the Knicks, had 31 points and 13 rebounds. He was called for charging with 16 seconds left and the Nuggets trailing 123-120.
Stoudemire had 24 points in the second half, and scored 30 or more points for a franchise record eighth straight game as all five starters scored in double figures for the Knicks (16-9), who have won eight straight and 13 of their last 14.
Chandler matched his season-high in points. His 3-pointer with 30.6 seconds left gave the Knicks the lead for good 123-120.
Raymond Felton had 19 points and a season-high 17 assists, and rookie Landry Fields added 18 points and nine rebounds for the Knicks, who were 24 for 26 on free throws.
Nene scored 26 points for the Nuggets (14-9). He leads the NBA with a .635 field goal percentage.
Al Harrington had 19 points and Ty Lawson scored 18 off the bench as the Nuggets’ reserves outscored the Knicks bench 54-19.
