Raymond Felton had 23 points and 13 assists and made a key late-game steal in his return to Charlotte to help the New York Knicks notch their fifth straight victory, 99-95 over the host Bobcats on Wednesday.

Felton’s steal came after Charlotte rebounded a free-throw miss by Landry Fields with 10 seconds left and New York leading by two points. Danilo Gallinari iced the game with two free throws with five seconds remaining.

The five-game winning streak is the first in five years for the Knicks (8-8).

Tyrus Thomas had season-highs with 26 points and 11 rebounds for Charlotte (5-10), which lost to New York for the second straight night.

Wilson Chandler had 21 points and eight rebounds for New York. Amar’e Stoudemire added 20 points and blocked six shots, including a key rejection of Charlotte’s Stephen Jackson with the Knicks leading by one point with 35 seconds remaining.

Chandler was 4-for-5 from 3-point range as New York made 12-of-25 3-point shots. Charlotte was just 2-for-12 from behind the arc.

Jackson had 18 points for Charlotte and D.J. Augustin added 14 points and seven assists.

The assist total was a season-best for Felton, who played his first five NBA seasons with the Bobcats before joining New York this season.
