John Wall scored 26 points and hit the go-ahead basket as the Washington Wizards overcame a 16-point second-half deficit to record a 98-92 victory over the visiting New Jersey Nets on Sunday.
Jordan Crawford added 21 points as Washington (17-51) snapped a six-game losing streak.
Brook Lopez had 21 points and 10 rebounds and Anthony Morrow scored 19 points for New Jersey (22-46).
Wall’s 18-footer with 1:22 to play broke a 90-90 tie. Wall added another basket with 46 seconds left as the Wizards won for just the second time in 15 games.
The Wizards trailed 59-43 early in the third quarter before going on a 19-4 run over eight-plus minutes to pull within 63-62 on JaVale McGee’s dunk with 3:49 left. Washington took the lead at 69-66 on Crawford’s 3-point play with 1:32 remaining.
Washington led by seven points in final quarter before New Jersey scored nine straight points to take a 79-77 lead on Lopez’s 14-foot jumper with 7:35 remaining.
New Jersey’s Kris Humphries had 18 points and 17 rebounds for his 10th consecutive double-double.
The Nets played without point guard Deron Williams, who will miss at least three games while resting an injured wrist. Jordan Farmar started in his place and had 10 points and a career-high 17 assists.
McGee had 16 points and Maurice Evans added 15 points for Washington.
