Brook Lopez had a season-high 32 points and nine rebounds as the New Jersey Nets earned a 107-101 overtime victory over the slumping Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday.
Devin Harris collected 27 points and nine assists and Anthony Morrow added 13 points for the Nets, who snapped a three-game slide. New Jersey scored the first five points of overtime and hung on at the end.
The Nets jumped out on top with a huge first quarter as Lopez scored the game's first seven points and finished the frame with 13 to give the Nets a 31-21 lead. They held that advantage through the second quarter before Atlanta began to creep back into it in the third, closing to 70-67 when Marvin Williams drained a 3-pointer with 1:40 left.
Rookie Derrick Favors scored two straight buckets to start the fourth quarter for New Jersey, which kept Atlanta at bay until Joe Johnson was fouled with 20 seconds left and hit two free throws to knot it at 93-93
Harris missed a shot at the buzzer to force overtime.
Jamal Crawford scored 21 points off the bench for Atlanta, which has dropped three straight and seven of nine.
