The Sharks posted their fifth consecutive win, gaining a stronger grip on second place in the Pacific Division. San Jose has won eight of its past 10 games.
The Devils took their second straight loss and now hold only a one-point lead over the Florida Panthers in the race for the second Eastern Conference wild-card berth.
San Jose goaltender Martin Jones made 26 saves on 28 shots for his 26th victory of the season. Devils starting netminder Cory Schneider blocked 10 of 14 shots in 30:31 during his first start after four games as a backup. Keith Kinkaid replaced him, finishing with nine saves on 11 shots.
Eric Fehr, Joe Pavelski, Jannik Hansen, Logan Couture and Mikkel Boedker also scored for the Sharks. Brenden Dillon supplied two helpers and extended his points streak to five games.
The Sharks were a perfect 2-for-2 on the power play, while the Devils were blanked on four man-advantage opportunities.
Taylor Hall, with his sixth point in six games, and Blake Coleman tallied for the Devils.
Fehr opened the scoring 5:32 into the game as he retrieved a rebound off the boards and snuck a high shot over a fallen Schneider from a sharp angle. The goal was 32-year-old Fehr's third in five games.
Hall created a 1-1 tie at 11:19 of the first period as he skated down a New Jersey clearing attempt outside the Sharks' zone, stickhandled past a couple of San Jose defensemen and beat Jones with a quick shot. However, Pavelski restored San Jose's lead only 1:06 later, deflecting in Kevin Labanc's shot during a power play.
Hansen extended San Jose's lead to 3-1 at 15:14 of the first period on a partial breakaway. The goal was his first since March 30, 2017, shortly after he was acquired in a trade from the Vancouver Canucks.
Goodrow padded San Jose's advantage at 10:38 of the second period, electing to shoot on a two-on-one. Kinkaid replaced Schneider after the goal, but let in the first shot he faced -- just 40 seconds later -- as Couture was allowed to skate undeterred with the puck into New Jersey's zone.
After Boedker put the Sharks ahead 6-1 on a power play at 18:20 of the middle frame, Coleman rounded out the scoring with New Jersey's second goal late in the third period.
