Moments after a spectacular lunging save by Ramo, the Flames opening the scoring as Jones converted a pass from Bouma during a 2-on-1 rush at 6:18 of the first period. Tanguay knotted it 11 1/2 minutes later, corralling a loose puck in the slot and swatting it into the net, but Hudler redirected blue-liner Dennis Wideman's shot from along the right-wing boards with only 16 seconds left in the session.
Calgary doubled its lead at 8:40 of the third as Bouma deflected defenseman TJ Brodie's blast from the blue line. Landeskog answered two minutes later, scoring from a sharp angle at the bottom of the left faceoff circle, but the Avalanche were unable to get the equalizer.
