Quion Williams had his fourth career double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds as Oklahoma State defeated visiting Kansas State 75-72 Saturday afternoon in Stillwater, Okla.
Oklahoma State (10-12, 2-7 Big 12) had five players in double figures, led by Javon Small with 18 points. Jamyron Keller added 12 points, and Brandon Garrison and John-Michael Wright each had 10. The Cowboys were 6 of 12 from 3-point range in the second half.
Kansas State (14-8, 4-5) has lost four consecutive games. They have not won since beating Oklahoma State 70-66 in Manhattan, Kan., two weeks ago.
The Wildcats were led by Tylor Perry with 19 points, all in the second half. They also got 17 from Cam Carter and 14 from Arthur Kaluma.
The Cowboys came out hot in the second half. After shooting just 31.3 percent in the first half, they hit 6-of-11 in the first 5:00 of the second half, opening a 44-38 lead. They extended it to as many as nine points several times. K-State kept answering, but the Wildcats never got closer than two points, which came when Perry hit a layup with 15.9 seconds left.
Keller hit 1 of 2 free throws with 12.6 seconds left. Carter and Perry each had 3-point attempts in the final seconds but couldn't convert.
Unlike their last two games when they started with major scoring droughts, the Wildcats started quickly Saturday. They led 9-4 at the first media timeout before building an eight-point lead.
But a 12-0 run by the Cowboys changed the game. A 3-pointer by Justin McBride tied the score at 24-all with 3:19 left. Another 3-pointer by Williams gave the Cowboys their first lead. The Cowboys took a 29-27 lead into halftime.
Carter led all scorers with 10 points for K-State. The Cowboys were led by Williams and Small with seven points each.
Turnovers continued to be a problem for both squads, the two worst teams in the conference in terms of turnovers committed and turnover margin. K-State committed nine and Oklahoma State had seven in the first half.
