Alabama stormed back from a lethargic first half to post a 70-53 victory over Coastal Carolina in the season opener for both teams on Friday night.

The Crimson Tide (1-0) trailed the Chanticleers by as many as eight points early in the game and were down 33-27 at intermission.

Coastal Carolina (0-1) still led 38-33 on two free throws by Josh Coleman with 18:46 to go, but Alabama went on a 14-0 run to jump ahead by nine and take the lead for good. The Tide went on to outscore the Chanticleers 43-20 in the second half.

Corban Collins, playing his first game at Alabama after enrolling as a graduate transfer from Morehead State this offseason, led the Tide with 15 points. Riley Norris added 12 points, and Dazon Ingram had 11 points and five assists while making all three 3-point attempts.

After going 4 of 14 from beyond the arc in the first half, the Tide heated up late. Alabama went 6 of 12 from 3-point range after the break, with Norris, Collins and Ingram each knocking down a trio of 3-pointers.

Colton Ray-St. Cyr had 13 points to lead Coastal Carolina, which couldn't sustain its first-half momentum and finished the game shooting 27.4 percent from the floor (17-for-62).

After connecting on seven first-half 3-pointers, Coastal managed just two in the final 20 minutes. It also turned the ball over 13 times and had eight of its shots blocked.

Elijah Wilson contributed 12 points for the Chanticleers. Forward Demario Beck just missed a double-double with nine points and eight rebounds.
