Freshman Kyle Wiltjer came off the bench to score a career-high 24 points and pace No. 3 Kentucky to an 87-63 win over Loyola-Maryland in Lexington.
Wiltjer was 7-for-11 from the field, including three 3-pointers, and added four rebounds for the Wildcats (11-1), who extended their home winning streak to 42 games. Fellow freshmen Anthony Davis had 15 points and 11 rebounds and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist had 15 points and seven rebounds.
Loyola (8-3) was led by junior Erik Etherly, who made 7 of 8 field goals attempts for 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Loyola stayed close for a half. The Greyhounds had four 3-pointers in the first half and trailed only 45-39 at the break. Kentucky pulled away midway in the second half, even though it was playing its second straight game without all-conference forward Terrence Jones, who is out with a dislocated pinky finger.
