Ty-Shon Alexander and Marcus Zegarowski hit 3-pointers to thwart a DePaul second-half rally Wednesday night, allowing Creighton to continue its dominance over its Big East Conference rival with a 79-67 victory in Chicago.

Creighton (14-13, 5-9 Big East) snapped a four-game losing streak and won on the road for just the third time this season.

The Bluejays have now beaten the Blue Demons nine straight times dating back to January 2015 and six in a row at DePaul since November 2005.

DePaul (13-12, 5-9) lost its third straight.

The Blue Demons rallied from an 11-point halftime deficit to within 58-55 on a 3-pointers by Devin Gage with 9:50 to play.

However, Alexander countered with a trey to double the Creighton advantage, and Zegarowski made it a nine-point game with his second 3-pointer of the game with 8:04 to play.

The Bluejays went on to lead by as many as 13 before coasting home, getting the game's final five points on free throws.

Alexander led five Bluejays in double figures with 16 points to complement five rebounds and a game-high six assists.

Martin Krampelj had 14 points and a team-high seven rebounds, while Davion Mintz chipped in with 12 points, Zegarowski 11 and Connor Cashaw 10 for Creighton, which will host DePaul in the Big East regular-season finale on March 9.

Max Strus led all scorers with 18 points and all rebounders with eight for DePaul, which has lost six of its last eight home games.

Eli Cain added 14 points, Flynn Cameron 11, and Femi Olujobi and Gage 10 apiece.

Strus connected on four 3-pointers and Cameron all three of his long-range attempts as the Blue Demons outscored the Bluejays 36-27 from beyond the arc.

Creighton outshot DePaul overall 52.8 percent to 43.1 percent.

Creighton built an 11-point halftime lead on the strength of a 14-2 run to close the first period. Damien Jefferson had a three-point play and Alexander a buzzer-beating 3-pointer in the burst, which began with DePaul clinging to a 28-27 lead.

The first half featured seven ties and 10 lead changes.
