WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- John Collins scored 22 points and pulled in 15 rebounds as Wake Forest maintained a big lead throughout most of the game in pummeling Charlotte 91-74 Tuesday at Lawrence Joel Coliseum.

Bryant Crawford's 15 points, Keyshawn Woods' 12 points and Dinos Mitoglou's 11 points also helped Wake Forest (7-2).

Woods, a redshirt sophomore guard, is a transfer from Charlotte, and the game marked the first time in history that a Wake Forest player competed against his former team.

Braxton Ogbueze scored 20 points, while Jon Davis had 16 points and Anthony Vanhook supplied 13 points for Charlotte (6-3), which had a three-game winning streak snapped.

Ogbueze reached the 20-point mark for the third time this season, but the 49ers committed 16 turnovers (eight in each half).

Charlotte shot 7 of 25 on 3-pointers, while Wake Forest made 6 of 14 long-range efforts.

Collins, a sophomore who scored 11 first-half points, has led the Demon Deacons in all except for two games this season. He didn't play in the final five minutes Tuesday.

Wake Forest used a 17-0 run to bolt to a 22-5 lead on the way to a 20-point advantage in the opening 10 minutes.

The margin ballooned to 22 points before settling at 45-27 at halftime.

With Wake Forest leading 73-52 with 8:23 remaining, emotions boiled between the teams after a whistle, and each team drew two technical fouls. There were no additional incidences.

Wake Forest is 4-0 in home games, but this was its only home outing during a five-game stretch.
