Markelle Fultz delivered an impressive all-around performance to lead Washington to a 92-58 victory over Northern Arizona on Sunday evening at Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle.
Fultz posted 16 points, eight assists, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots for Washington (2-1). Matisse Thybulle added 15 points. Noah Dickerson had 12, Carlos Johnson scored 11 and David Crisp had 10.
Felix Rivera-Vega scored 11 points to lead Northern Arizona (1-4). Ako Kaluna had 10 points.
Fultz knocked down a 3-pointer to give Washington an early 10-7 lead. Fultz scored seven of his team's first 10 points over the first 4:21. The Huskies extended their lead to seven on consecutive baskets by Dickerson and went up 21-12 on a corner 3-pointer by Crisp.
Crisp later made another 3-pointer to put the Huskies up 26-18 midway through the opening period. The Lumberjacks got within five on a 3-pointer by Rivera-Vega, but the Huskies pushed the lead back to 11 on a jumper by Malik Dime.
Washington led 38-26 at the break despite shooting just 40.5 percent from the field in the first half. The Huskies held the Lumberjacks to 28.6 percent shooting and had a 24-17 advantage in rebounding over the first 20 minutes.
Fultz converted a three-point play to give Washington a 14-point lead early in the second period. The Huskies stretched the lead to 18 on a three-point play by Dominic Green, went up 57-34 on a 3-pointer by Thybulle and took a 25-point lead on a layup by Dickerson. The lead continued to grow as the Huskies staged a 21-0 run to go up 72-34, giving Washington its largest lead of the game.
The Huskies shot 51.3 percent from the field overall, made 7 of 19 from 3-point range and finished with a 46-33 rebounding advantage. The Lumberjacks shot 30.8 percent and made 8 of 29 from long distance.
