Seven players scored in double figures and West Virginia's pressing defense forced 30 turnovers during a 97-44 rout of Bethune-Cookman on Monday night.
Guards Daxter Miles Jr. and Jaysean Paige scored 14 each to pace West Virginia (4-0), which never trailed and improved to 15-0 all-time against the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
Forward Devin Williams added 12 points and 10 rebounds, his fourth consecutive double-double. Forward Elijah Macon grabbed 10 rebounds and scored all of his 13 points in the second half, helping the Mountaineers to a 54-12 scoring edge in the paint.
Reserve guard Josue Salaam scored 12 points for Bethune-Cookman (2-0), but leading scorer Jordan Potts fouled after shooting 1-of-8 for six points, 13 below his season average. The Wildcats struggled to 25-percent shooting, starting the night 2-of-12 and closing the game on a 2-of-22 cold streak.
Forward Jonathan Holton and guard Jevon Carter scored 11, while guard Teyvon Myers finished with 10, a season-high for last year’s top junior college scorer.
