Arizona State 79, USC 60: Jordan Bachynski matched his season high with 20 points and contributed 12 rebounds to lead the visiting Sun Devils to the Pac-12 victory.

Jahii Carson added 18 points for Arizona State (13-3, 2-1 Pac-12) in the first of its two games in Southern California this week. Shaquielle McKissic contributed 12 points and six steals and Jermaine Marshall finished with 10 points for the Sun Devils.

Byron Wesley had 20 points and 14 rebounds to lead USC (9-6, 0-2). Pe’Shon Howard scored nine points after going scoreless in the previous two games and Nikola Jovanovic added seven points off the bench for the Trojans.

The Sun Devils seized control in the final 6 1/2 minutes of the first half, doubling their point total while holding USC to nine points in that span to take a 44-28 halftime lead. Four starters had at least eight points in the first half and Arizona State shot 6-for-12 from 3-point range.

Arizona State didn’t let up to start the second half, scoring the first six points to extend its lead to 20. The Trojans didn’t shoot well from anywhere while suffering their second straight one-sided loss, shooting 36.1 percent from the field, 17.6 from 3-point range and 52 percent from the line.

GAME NOTEBOOK: USC forward J.T. Terrell, the top returning scorer this season, moved into the starting lineup after missing eight games because of an academic suspension and then coming off the bench in his first three games back. He finished with six points on 3-for-13 shooting … Bachynski, a 7-2 center, came in leading the nation in blocks (4.9) and averaging one of every 12.2 shots by the opponents, but he finished with just two. … Carson came in averaging 21.8 points in 20 road/neutral court games in his career.
