No. 20 Syracuse 58, No. 5 Georgetown 55 (OT): Baye Keita tallied 13 points and eight rebounds and the Orange survived some shaky foul shooting in overtime to edge the Hoyas and advance to the championship game of the Big East tournament at Madison Square Garden.

Brandon Triche hit a critical free throw with 18 seconds remaining and finished with 13 points for Syracuse (26-8), which coughed up a double-digit second-half lead and defeated its rival despite missing five free throws In overtime. James Southerland chipped in 13 points and Trevor Cooney added 10 for the Orange, who will meet Louisville on Saturday.

Mikael Hopkins scored 15 points to lead Georgetown (25-6), which ended the Orange’s 38-game home winning streak on Feb. 23 and held Syracuse to its lowest scoring total since 1962 on Saturday in a 61-39 rout. Markel Starks had 13 points and Big East Player of the Year Otto Porter Jr. poured in 12.

The Hoyas closed regulation on a 19-8 surge to send the game into overtime following a pair of free throws from Porter with seven seconds remaining. In the extra period, Triche and Keita gave Syracuse a 55-51 advantage with a basket apiece and Triche's free throw was the final point.

The Orange took control with a 13-0 run midway through the first half, holding the Hoyas scoreless for a 7:53 stretch after Georgetown took a 17-14 lead. Southerland hit consecutive 3-pointers early in the second half to stretch a nine-point halftime lead to 12.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Southerland shot 4-of-10 beyond the arc Friday and tied Syracuse assistant coach Gerry McNamara’s conference record of 16 3-pointers during the Big East tournament. In three tournament games, Southerland is 16-of-25 beyond the arc. … Georgetown fell to 15-2 all-time as a No. 1 seed in the Big East tournament. … Porter, who scored a career-high 33 points against the Orange in their first meeting, averaged 11 over his last two games against Syracuse.
