UCLA 65, Texas 63: Jordan Adams scored 18 points and Shabazz Muhammad tallied 16 as the Bruins rallied from a late eight-point deficit to defeat the Longhorns at Reliant Stadium in Houston.
Kyle Anderson scored 11 points and UCLA (6-3) used a decisive 11-0 run to overtake Texas, which led 61-53 with three minutes remaining.
Cameron Ridley tallied a season-high 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Javan Felix added 13 points and eight rebounds and Sheldon McClellan scored 12 points for Texas (5-4).
Texas had an eight-point lead after McClellan sank two free throws with 3:02 left. The Bruins began the run with eight straight points, with Adams delivering back-to-back three-point plays to tie the contest with 1:15 remaining.
A free throw by Muhammad gave UCLA a one-point lead with 47.7 seconds left and Anderson culminated the surge with a basket with 24.8 seconds remaining to make it a three-point game. The Bruins were up two in the final seconds when a 30-foot, 3-point shot by Texas’ Jonathan Holmes was well off the mark.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Both teams struggled from 3-point range with Texas making just 4 of 20 attempts and UCLA finishing 2-of-11. … Felix committed two of his four turnovers in the final two-plus minutes to help the Bruins’ comeback. … UCLA led by as many as seven points in the first half en route to a 32-30 lead at the break.
