Stacy Wilson came off the bench to score a season-high 16 points as No. 21 Murray State remained one of four undefeated teams in the nation with a 73-40 victory over Eastern Illinois on Friday in Charleston, Ill.
The Racers (14-0, 2-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference) surged to a 20-point halftime lead with a dominating first half performance and are off to the second best start in school history.
MSU blew open a close game early in the first half with an 18-2 run keyed by Jewuan Long's eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers to cap off the burst, sending Eastern Illinois (6-6, 0-1 OVC) to its first home loss of the season in its league opener.
The Racers shot 53 percent from the field for the game and made a season-high 12 3-pointers, connecting on 54.5 percent from three-point range. Long added 14 points for MSU, which will head into 2012 with an unblemished mark, joining Top 10 powers No. 1 Syracuse, No. 7 Baylor and No. 8 Missouri.
Eastern Illinois was led by Jeremy Granger's 12 points.
