Under first-year coach Tad Boyle, Colorado has become one of the surprise teams of the college basketball season.
The Buffaloes are off to a remarkable 3-0 start in the Big 12 after knocking off Oklahoma State, 75-71, on Saturday afternoon.
The Buffs, who trailed by four at halftime, were led by guards Cory Higgins (23 points) and standout sophomore Alec Burks (20 points). Forward Marcus Relphorde added 14 points.
Oklahoma State led by as many as 12 points early in the second half, but couldn’t hang on to the lead. More troublesome, Cowboys forward Marshall Moses hasn’t been able to get a respectable number of shots off the past two games – he had only eight shots against Colorado, and seven against Texas A&M last Wednesday.
Oklahoma State is clearly struggling after upsetting Kansas State in the Big 12 opener.
But this game was all about Colorado, which is off to its best Big 12 start since the 1996-97 season.
