J.T. Terrell scored 18 points as Wake Forest wrapped up its non-conference slate by pulling away for a 79-62 victory over High Point on Wednesday night.
The Demon Deacons (7-8) used a 10-2 surge late in the first half to take a 38-26 lead into the locker room, but the Panthers got within five 55-50 on a 3-pointer by Tehran Cox with 11:16 left. Wake Forest responded with a 14-0 run over the next 4:15 to put the game away.
Travis McKie added 13 points for Wake Forest, which helped its cause significantly by hitting 22 of 26 free throws. Gary Clark and C.J. Harris each contributed 11 points, as Clark scored seven during the Demon Deacons' late run.
High Point (5-8) got 12 points from Nick Barbour.
Wake Forest opens Atlantic Coast Conference play at North Carolina State on Saturday.
