Five players scored in double figures as Colorado notched an 85-73 victory over Cal State Bakersfield on Sunday evening in Bakersfield. Sophomore Alec Burks scored a team-high 19 points with eight rebounds and four assists for the Buffaloes, who won their third straight game and improved to 10-4 overall. Cory Higgins added 16 points and Marcus Relphorde 11in the victory.
Colorado took control of the game with a 25-9 run in the first half, capped by a Burks jumper with 4:56 remaining.
Leading the way for the Roadrunners (8-6) was junior guard Alex Johnson, who scored a game-high 26 points, including six 3-pointers. Rashad Savage pulled down 16 rebounds, including nine on the offensive end as the Roadrunners travel to New Mexico on Wednesday.
Colorado will face Western New Mexico in a Wednesday tune-up game before they open Big 12 Conference play on Saturday, hosting No.10 Missouri.
