PHOENIX -- Arizona left-hander Patrick Corbin just wanted to keep his team in the ballgame. He did a lot more than that in his first start back after Tommy John surgery.

Corbin gave up two runs in five innings in the Diamondbacks' 7-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday night at Chase Field, his first win since Sept. 11, 2013. He missed last season after suffering an elbow injury in the spring.

"He was business -- it seemed like a normal day for him, but it was way more than a normal day for all of us and I think for him now, to get through this and feel good about it," Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale said.

Center fielder A.J. Pollock had two hits, two stolen bases and two RBIs, and his tiebreaking double off third baseman Nolan Arenado's glove down the left field line with two outs and two runners on base gave Corbin a 4-2 lead in the fourth inning. Pollock tied his career season high with 38 RBIs.

Corbin gave up eight hits, struck out three and benefited from two double play grounders while throwing 76 pitches.

"I feel awesome," said Corbin, an All-Star in 2013 when he was 14-8 with a 3.41 ERA. "It is great to be back. A lot of emotions going. When they announced my name before pregame, the fans gave a pretty nice applause there. That gave me some chills and some butterflies.

"After that, it seemed to calm me down. I just wanted to go out and not overthrow and throw a lot of strikes. I thought I'd be a little bit more nervous out there, maybe a little bit more hyped up."

Center fielder Charlie Blackmon and second baseman DJ LeMahieu had RBI hits in the second inning when the Rockies tied the score at 2 against Corbin, but he stranded a runner on third with two outs in the fourth and induced shortstop Troy Tulowitzki to hit into a double play with two on to end the fifth.

"Just a big day for him," Hale said. "He got the five innings in and I think that was enough."

Right fielder Yasmany Tomas, third baseman Jake Lamb and left fielder David Peralta had a hit and an RBI each for the Diamondbacks (40-41), who have won three straight and five of seven.

LeMahieu had three hits and an RBI and Blackmon had two hits and an RBI for the Rockies (34-47), who have lost four in a row and seven of eight.

LeMahieu singled and scored on first baseman Wilin Rosario's bases-loaded fielder's choice to make it 4-3 in the eighth before the Diamondbacks scored three runs in the bottom of the inning in a rally that included a sacrifice bunt and two bunt hits.

Shortstop Nick Ahmed beat out a bunt to put runners on first and third against right-hander Tommy Kahnle before pinch-hitter Cliff Pennington pushed a bunt down the first-base line that Rosario fielded but threw past first. Rosario is in his first season at first base.

"It's a very typical play," Colorado manager Walt Weiss said. "We just didn't defend it, that's all."

Colorado right-hander David Hale gave up four runs (three earned) in five innings. He has lost his last four decisions while allowing 22 earned runs in 27 2/3 innings.

He walked two and gave up two runs in the first inning, when Tomas hit into a fielder's choice with the bases loaded and Lamb followed with a run-scoring single.

"Just there in the first inning I was a little wild, but I felt good after that," Hale said. "I thought if that ball by Pollock doesn't sneak down the line, it's a totally different game."

NOTES: RHP John Axford got the final out for the Rockies after being activated from the seven-day emergency family medical leave list Saturday. Axford left the team Tuesday for undisclosed family reasons. RHP Justin Miller was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque. ... Arizona C Oscar Hernandez was activated from the disabled list and OF Danny Dorn was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Saturday. A Rule 5 pick last winter Hernandez, had to be activated or offered back to Tampa Bay when he was healthy enough to play. The Diamondbacks have three catchers and three outfielders among their 12 position players. ... RHP Matt Stites was optioned to Triple-A Reno when LHP Patrick Corbin was activated for his start Saturday. Corbin's first major league pitch in 645 days was a 92 mph fastball for a called strike. ... Arizona OF Ender Inciarte (hamstring) is expected to rejoin the team on July 17, the first game after the All-Star break, manager Chip Hale said.
