Angels 12, Athletics 1: C.J. Wilson worked seven strong innings while Mike Trout and Mark Trumbo each homered and drove in three runs as visiting Los Angeles posted its sixth win in seven games.
Kole Calhoun went 3-for-5 with three RBIs while Andrew Romine collected two hits and plated a run for the Angels, who improved to 6-2 on their 10-game road trip and 15-3 in their last 18 away from home.
Derek Norris delivered an RBI single and Yoenis Cespedes recorded two hits for first-place Oakland, which had its five-game winning streak snapped but remained 6 1/2 ahead of Texas in the American League West with 12 to play.
Wilson (17-6) limited the Athletics to a run and four hits in winning his ninth consecutive decision. The left-hander, who walked three and struck out six, has not lost since July 5.
Josh Hamilton and Calhoun hit RBI singles in the first inning and Trumbo made it 3-0 with a run-scoring groundout in the third against Jarrod Parker (11-7), who lost for the first time since May 22 after being pushed back a day in the rotation due to an illness. Calhoun highlighted a five-run fifth with a two-run single, and Trout and Trumbo belted two-run homers in the eighth off Pedro Figueroa to cap the scoring.
