Marcus Bingham had 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead Michigan State to an 83-59 home win over in-state opponent Eastern Michigan in East Lansing, Mich., on Saturday.
Malik Hall had 15 points and nine rebounds, Max Christie scored 13 points and Gabe Brown added 10 points for Michigan State (3-1), which has won three straight following a season-opening loss to Kansas.
Noah Farrakhan had 14 points and six rebounds, and Colin Golson scored 11 points off the bench in defeat for Eastern Michigan, which lost its second straight.
Eastern Michigan (1-3) actually outrebounded Michigan State by a 43-41 margin, but the Eagles committed 23 turnovers and shot just 37.1 percent from the field.
The Spartans were just 4 of 17 from 3-point range but were 26 of 51 on 2-point shots, collected 12 steals and only turned the ball over 10 times.
Michigan State held a 49-31 lead at halftime and built it up from there, going on an 8-0 run to take a 64-37 lead with 12:46 remaining in the game.
Eastern Michigan mounted a brief flurry, cutting its deficit to 66-50 with 8:39 remaining following a 13-2 run.
But Michigan State quelled that run with five straight points to take a 71-50 lead with 5:54 left.
Eastern Michigan managed to again cut Michigan State's lead to 16 at 75-59 with 3:23 remaining, but that's as close as the Eagles would get.
The game was tied at 15-15 with 12:08 left in the first half when Michigan State started to take control.
The Spartans went on a 9-2 run to take a 24-17 lead with 10:15 left until halftime, then used a 10-0 run to take a 34-21 lead with 7:10 remaining in the first half.
Michigan State then scored the final seven points of the first half to take a 49-31 lead at halftime.
