On Senior Day at UConn, a sophomore stole the show.
James Bouknight scored a team-high 21 points to lead five Huskies in double figures as UConn beat Georgetown, 98-82, on Saturday in Storrs, Conn., in the regular-season finale for both teams.
Jalen Gaffney had 15 points, Tyler Polley, Tyrese Martin and Isaiah Whaley each scored 11 and Adama Sanogo added 10 for the Huskies (14-6, 11-6 Big East), who have won four straight games and six of their last seven.
Jahvon Blair had a game-high 22 points off the bench, while Qudus Wahab scored 16 and Chudier Bile added 15 for Georgetown (9-12, 7-9).
UConn hit its first six shots, including a Bouknight 3-pointer, to take a 15-2 lead with 16:18 left in the first half.
In the first half, Bouknight scored 11 and Gaffney added 10 as Connecticut led 51-24 at intermission, its largest halftime edge in seven years. The Huskies hit 57.6 percent of their shots (19-for-33) in their highest-scoring first half of the season.
Georgetown made just 6 of its 20 field-goal attempts in the first half.
Bouknight, who missed eight games earlier this season after having surgery to remove bone chips in his left elbow, was 5-of-9 from beyond the arc. He entered Saturday shooting 30.2 percent from the 3-point line.
Whaley's layup with 19:39 left made it 53-24, matching UConn's largest lead of the game. It also marked Georgetown's largest deficit of the season.
The Huskies outrebounded Georgetown, 35-26. The Hoyas entered the game as the Big East's top rebounding team.
UConn, which shot 59.3 percent for the game, has capped its first Big East regular season since 2013. The Huskies were members of the American Athletic Conference the previous seven seasons.
