Mason Jones scored 37 points and Arkansas avenged its worst loss of the season in an 86-69 home win over Tennessee on Wednesday night in Fayetteville, Ark.

Jones, the SEC scoring leader at 20.5 points per game, had only nine points on 1-for-10 shooting when Arkansas lost 82-61 at Tennessee on Feb. 11. On Tuesday, he scored nine during a 14-0 run that put the Razorbacks (18-10, 6-9 SEC) in control less than five minutes after tipoff.

It was the seventh 30-point game of the season for the sophomore guard, who was 11 of 19 from the field and 12 of 15 from the line as Arkansas shot 48.1 percent, its best rate in more than a month.

Arkansas led by as many as 16 in the first half thanks to nine Tennessee turnovers that the Razorbacks turned into 18 points, but a 40-27 edge at the break almost disappeared before the first TV timeout of the second half thanks to an 11-0 Volunteers run.

Back-to-back baskets from Jordan Bowden got Tennessee within 45-43 with 14:10 left as it started the second half 6 of 8 from the field after shooting 37 percent in the first half.

Arkansas then scored the next nine points, though, and the Vols (15-13, 7-8) couldn't get closer than nine the rest of the way in losing their third straight conference road game after a 3-2 start.

Bowden led Tennessee with 19 points, while John Fulkerson had 15 and Yves Pons added 12. Arkansas also got 22 from Isaiah Joe and 13 from Desi Sills while Ethan Henderson had a career-high nine rebounds in his second start of the year.
