West Virginia 69, Marshall 59: Deniz Kilicli scored a season-high 21 points to lead West Virginia past Marshall in the Chesapeake Energy Capital Classic at the Charleston Civic Center.

The Mountaineers (3-3) beat the Thundering Herd (5-4) for the sixth time in the last seven meetings and improved to 30-11 in the series, including 19-5 in Charleston.

Juwan Staten added 12 points for West Virginia, which led 31-25 at halftime. The Mountaineers led by as many at 11 points in the second half.

Marshall was led by D.D. Scarver, who scored 17 points. Elijah Pittman had 16 points and DeAndre Kane chipped in 13 points before fouling out with 45 seconds to play.

West Virginia was 24-of-30 shooting from the foul line.
