Pistons 108, Heat 91: D.J. Augustin scored 25 points and dished out a season-high 13 assists as Detroit jumped out to a big lead and never looked back against visiting Miami.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 18 points for the Pistons, who won for only the third time in the last 15 meetings with Miami. Andre Drummond recorded 14 points and 14 rebounds while Kyle Singler went 3-of-3 from 3-point land en route to 13 points for Detroit, which recorded 27 assists on 42 made field goals.
Chris Bosh matched a season high with 34 points for the Heat, who have dropped three of their last four games. Hassan Whiteside produced 11 points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots while Chris Andersen tallied 12 points off the bench for Miami, which went 15-of-23 from the foul line.
Augustin and Singler nailed back-to-back 3-pointers to help the Pistons pull away 61-41 and they took an 85-67 advantage into the final frame despite 21 points from Bosh in the third quarter. John Lucas III connected from beyond the arc in his Detroit debut to restore the Pistons' 20-point cushion at 92-72 and they coasted the rest of the way to earn their fourth win in their last five home games.
Augustin and Caldwell-Pope scored seven points apiece as part of a 25-1 run to end the first quarter to put the Pistons in front 33-12. Miami's Luol Deng converted a three-point play to trim the deficit to eight before Singler buried two 3-pointers in the final 2:39 of the second quarter to give Detroit a 53-39 lead at intermission.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Pistons outrebounded the Heat 45-35 and have won the battle of the boards in nine of their last 10 games. … Miami was held without a field goal for the final seven-plus minutes of the first quarter. … Drummond made both of his free-throw attempts after going 1-of-16 in his previous five games.
