David Lee recorded 28 points and 14 rebounds and Andre Iguodala collected 11 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for the Warriors. Klay Thompson and Jordan Crawford each chipped in 12 points as Golden State won for the first time in three meetings with the Rockets.
James Harden scored 34 of his 39 points after the half and Chandler Parsons had 21 points and eight rebounds to pace Houston, which had an eight-game winning streak come to an end. Dwight Howard struggled to 11 points on 4-of-13 shooting but contributed 21 rebounds and four blocks.
The Rockets took their first lead of the second half on Harden’s layup with 5:43 left but Curry responded immediately with a 3-pointer and got into the lane for a floater to make it 80-77. Harden’s three-point play gave the Rockets an 87-85 edge with 1:14 on the clock before Lee’s basket tied it again, and Harden buried a step-back jumper from the top of the key with 6.9 seconds left before Curry’s left-handed layup high off the glass with 3.2 seconds remaining ended up sending it to overtime.
Curry’s 3-pointer gave Golden State the first lead in overtime and Jermaine O’Neal ensured it would stay in the Warriors’ favor with a block on Parsons at the rim before Curry hit four free throws and Draymond Green added two in the final 15 seconds to put it away. Harden spent the final minutes clutching his right arm after a collision with teammate Jeremy Lin but still scored four points in the final seven seconds of the extra period to help keep it close.
