Kevin Garnett collected 18 points and 14 rebounds, and Paul Pierce scored 21 for the Celtics (43-15), who finished 3-1 on their four-game road trip and increased its lead to one game over Miami in the Eastern Conference.

Al Jefferson recorded 28 points and a season-high 19 rebounds for the Jazz (32-29), who have dropped seven of their last eight games and fell one game behind Memphis for eighth in the Western Conference.

The Jazz pulled ahead 92-91 on Jefferson’s free throws with 4:39 left, but Allen drained a 3-pointer to give Boston back the lead. Jefferson would tie it with a short jumper before Glen Davis split a pair of free throws.

Allen made it a two-possession game when he took a feed from Rajon Rondo and knocked down a 3-pointer in transition with 3:15 on the clock.

Utah did not quit, and cut it back down to a two-point game when Paul Millsap converted a three-point play. But Allen drained another 3-pointer with 53 seconds left and Rondo made a 15-footer 29 seconds later to seal it.
