Paul Pierce scored 23 points and Kevin Garnett added 18 and seven rebounds as the Boston Celtics coasted to a 114-83 home victory over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday.
Rajon Rondo added 12 points and 13 assists and Shaquille O’Neal chipped in 13 points and six boards for the Celtics, who shot a season-high 66 percent (50-of-76) from the floor and have won three straight games.
Boston led, 33-28, after one quarter and really opened it up in the second, ending the half with a 19-6 burst to take a 60-44 lead into the locker room. Garnett scored eight points during the spurt and five other players had at least one basket as the Celtics spread it around.
They stretched the lead to 89-69 after three quarters and cruised through the fourth, resting the starters and watching the reserves outscore Washington 25-14 in the period.
Nick Young scored 20 points off the bench and Al Thornton finished with 15 for the Wizards, who were playing their second straight game without rookie point guard John Wall due to a sprained foot.
