Astros 6, Blue Jays 1: Chris Carter and Matt Dominguez drove in two runs apiece as host Houston defeated Toronto for the third straight day.
Scott Feldman (5-8) allowed one run and eight hits in his third career complete-game effort to halt a personal three-game losing streak. Jon Singleton added two hits and scored twice and Jake Marisnick had two hits and one RBI for the Astros.
Jose Reyes went 3-for-4 for the Blue Jays, who hold the American League’s second wild-card spot but fell 3 1/2 games behind first-place Baltimore in the AL East. Ryan Goins drove in the lone Toronto run with a second-inning single.
Marcus Stroman (7-3) retired the first seven batters he faced before his outing disintegrated and he was charged with five runs and seven hits in three-plus innings. Carter pushed the Astros ahead with a bases-loaded, two-run single in the third and Houston added three more in the fourth.
Dominguez and Marisnick had consecutive RBI singles in the uprising that was capped by Robbie Grossman’s bases-loaded walk to make it 5-1. Dominguez added a sacrifice fly in the sixth as Houston outscored Toronto 17-4 over the past three days after losing Thursday’s series opener.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Carter has 23 RBIs over his last 21 games to raise his season count to a team-leading 53. … Stroman allowed just one run in 21 innings while winning three straight outings prior to Sunday’s struggles. … Houston placed 1B Jesus Guzman (back) on the 15-day disabled list and recalled OF Domingo Santana from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
