White Sox 12, Twins 1: Alexei Ramirez went 4-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs as host Chicago snapped its six-game losing streak and set a season high for runs scored.
After scoring a total of seven runs in their previous six games, the White Sox sent 12 batters to the plate and scored seven times on six singles in the first. Twins starter Liam Hendriks (1-3) failed to escape the inning and fell to 2-13 in 28 career outings.
Rookie Erik Johnson (1-2) was the beneficiary of the early run support, earning his first career victory while striking out eight over six scoreless innings. Adam Dunn, Dayan Viciedo and Jordan Danks also homered for Chicago, which won for the third time in its last 18 games.
Dunn broke out of a 5-for-55 slump with a one-out solo homer off Cole De Vries in the fourth and Viciedo followed with a blast into the right-field seats. It marked the third time this season the White Sox hit back-to-back homers, all against Minnesota.
Danks put Chicago ahead 11-0 with a two-run blast off De Vries in the sixth and Ramirez capped the scoring with a solo shot over the center-field wall in the seventh. Alex Presley and Oswaldo Arcia each had two hits for Minnesota, which lost for the eighth time in its last 11 games.
GAME NOTEBOOK: White Sox OF Avisail Garcia missed his second straight game after his wife gave birth to the couple’s first child on Monday morning. … Dunn has recorded eight of his 32 homers and 15 of his 83 RBIs this season against the Twins. … Every player in Chicago’s starting lineup had at least one hit and one RBI except for C Bryan Anderson, who went 0-for-4.
